At The Mental health Services, Region of Southern Denmark we want to strengthen our professional environment with a specialist physician. We are looking for a talented and dedicated psychiatrist to our department in Vejle.

At arrival, you will participate in our well-tested onboarding program, which consists of relocation support, thorough introduction to the workplace, help with all practical matters and an intensive in house language course.

You will be working and living in the beautiful city of Vejle. A city that has a lot to offer in terms of both nature and culture. Vejle is centrally located with only a 30 minutes’ drive to Billund international airport and is within driving distance of both the German border and the Capitol of Copenhagen.

We provide specialist healthcare
The department in Vejle is part of the Mental Health Services in the Region of Southern Denmark. The department provides specialist healthcare services to approx. 300,000 inhabitants. The department is a professional independent unit responsible for the mental healthcare and provides various types of services, such as inpatient ward, outpatient and emergency services. The department has FACT teams cooperating with the municipalities, and local emergency teams during daytime.

We work interdisciplinary and collaborate across the sections with attending specialist physicians, doctors in specialization, psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses, social workers, healthcare professionals and healthcare secretaries.

Environmental therapy is an important part of the treatment in the inpatient units. We have joint medical meetings and treatment meetings with focus on various professional topics. We are now strengthening our treatment group with an attending specialist physician. The current vacancy is in our inpatient unit with the possibility to transfer to an outpatient clinic later on.

Work tasks:

  • Diagnostic evaluation, plan the course of treatment and discharge of patients
  • Assessment and diagnosis of mental disorders
  • Treatment of various mental disorders
  • Individual follow-up of patients
  • Collaboration in interdisciplinary teams and collaboration with the municipal healthcare service
  • Participate in admissions meetings/assessments of referrals
  • Patient documentation
  • Medical assessments
  • Somatic examinations and follow-up
  • Professional and clinical meetings with other therapists, nurses etc.
  • Supervision of doctors in specialization


Professional and personal qualifications:
  • Danish authorization as a specialist doctor – we will guide you in this process
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Work in a team-oriented way
  • Interested in the development of the subject
  • Personal suitability is emphasized

Vejle, a place for you to stay – and for your family
Your employment starts with an intensive language course. You will participate in our well-tested in house language class that takes place in small groups with other international doctors and nurses. The classes will focus on communicative tasks so you will quickly be able to communicate with patients and colleagues. There are classes every day and after 5-6 months, you work full-time and continue Danish lessons in the evening class.

If you are coming to Denmark with a partner and/or kids, we are committed to secure that the move is successful for the entire family. Public schools are free in Denmark and there are many different opportunities for kids to participate in leisure activities. We offer free Danish language course for partners and are happy to advice on job search and settlement opportunities.
